Creative Fire Research Ethics Commitment

Our commitment to you is that we will conduct research to the highest ethical standards as set out by both Indigenous and non-Indigenous industry leaders. We respect both your personal right to privacy and the collective right to Indigenous data sovereignty.

We work to research standards that meet or exceed national best practices in privacy, transparency and integrity. We are equally committed to:

  • respecting Indigenous peoples’ data sovereignty
  • the First Nations principles of ownership, control, access, and possession (OCAP
  • the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) which protects and advances the rights and interests of Inuit in Canada
  • and research strategies that protect and support the Métis people

Our commitment to Indigenous peoples

As a 100% Indigenous-owned company, Creative Fire is committed to conducting research in a good way. We respect the principles of OCAP as well as ITK’s research strategy, and maintain a wider commitment to the evolving priority of supporting Indigenous data sovereignty.

Creative Fire is owned by the Des Nedhe Group, the economic development arm of English River First Nation (ERFN). As such, our commitment to ethical research reflects not only industry best practice, but our commitment to uphold the values of ERFN.

Our dedication to research and data integrity is part of the sincere belief that good data can provide a voice to Indigenous peoples. This can only be done if you choose to tell us your story and if we are able to tell it honestly and accurately, which is at the heart of our Indigenous commitment to research. We will always tell your story honestly, and always with the goal of empowering Indigenous people and communities.
